Skyping on "Dot Day!"

NPES kindergarten students skyped with kindergarten students in Iowa!  They shared their creative “dot” drawings!  We are celebrating International Dot Day this week.  Every year on September 15, innovative educators around the world celebrate International Dot Day by making time to encourage their students’ creativity. Take time to read the treasured story by Peter H. Reynolds, The Dot.

O.R.E.O. Project 2012

Third grade students participated in the O.R.E.O. Project 2012!  They used the scientific method to discover how many Oreos® they could stack before the Oreos® tumbled!
Ms. Schumpert’s class stacked 28 Oreos! Schools all over the world can participate in the O.R.E.O. Project. Results from classrooms are averaged and posted on the O.R.E.O Project website.

The steps of the scientific method include:

  • Ask a Question
  • Do Background Research
  • Construct a Hypothesis
  • Test Your Hypothesis by Doing an Experiment
  • Analyze Your Data and Draw a Conclusion
  • Communicate Your Result
